No matter what has happened in your day today, tomorrow is a fresh new start. If for some reason today wasn’t a great day for you, make peace with yourself before you go to sleep. Or if it was a spectacular day, again, make peace with yourself before you go to sleep.

As you cultivate your ability to be comfortable in your own skin, knowing that you are good enough today but will aspire to be even better tomorrow, it is important not only to express gratitude throughout the day, but it is a wonderful technique for helping you be at peace before you go to sleep.

As you settle into bed, take a moment to review your day. Find contentment in the highlights, and take a moment to embrace the low lights. If you had a challenging day, free yourself from the need to construct stories about how things might have gone differently or better. Simply acknowledge the challenges, and remind yourself that you are human. Just like you, people all around the world may have had a challenging day. And just like you, they’re all human. Remember that tomorrow is a fresh start.

Take a few deep breaths, relax your body, and express gratitude… gratitude for being alive, having a place to lay your head, and that you have a whole day tomorrow to learn, grow, and explore.

Keep the above idea as you move into your meditation. And this evening, before you go to sleep, make peace with yourself.
