living authentically“It is easy to be someone else. It is very hard to be yourself.”

Do you ever find that you make decisions/take action based on what someone else might think of the decision/action rather than doing what you truly feel in your heart is the right thing to do? Or to put it another way, do you sometimes care more about what others think of you and your actions more than what you think of your actions? If so, you’re not alone. Thinking this way is human. However, we can begin to change that pattern to one where we are living authentically more than less, and meditation can help support that process. As we meditate and connect with that inner wisdom, as we begin to see what is really inside and lean into it rather than suppressing or avoiding it we have an opportunity to live each moment with more authenticity. As you begin your meditation today, hold the above phrase in mind. Meditate either for 6 minutes or in whatever way you like best.

More helpful things to consider…

It is really important to create a way to enjoy meditation. Try not to turn it into one more task that is on your to-do list. Rather than thinking of it as an obligation, think of it as an opportunity. It is an opportunity to allow your mind to relax and be quiet in the midst of an otherwise busy day. It is an opportunity for you to do something seemingly simple that has profound effects on your physical and mental health. Above all, remember that some days it will be easier to be motivated to meditate, and other days will be more difficult. Try not to be hard on yourself in the days it seems more difficult. Simply do your best. Even if that means taking a few deep breaths with a dropped gaze a few times a day.
